One simple wish can change everything…
Harley Simpson has one wish—to find Prince Charming and settle down. She has a dream job and wonderful friends, but something is missing. With her thirtieth birthday looming, Harley is sure being with her hot, smooth-talking boss Ethan Prince would make her life complete. Having just landed a major client and learning she’ll be working even more closely with Ethan, Harley sets out to celebrate with her friends.
On her way to the bar, Harley chats with a mysterious cab driver. When the woman asks what she would wish for, Harley answers honestly—she wants Ethan. But during her night out, she meets a handsome, blue-eyed part-time bartender and full-time teacher named Matt Garner. No, he’s not a CEO, but he’s the sweetest guy Harley’s ever met.
A wish gone bad…
Harley awakens the next morning in a strange house with Ethan—and their two young daughters. The wish she’d confided to the freaky fairy godmother has actually come true. As she tries to figure out what this means and if it’s really what she wanted after all, Harley discovers Matt is also part of this bizarre world…He’s her daughters’ teacher.
Harley suspects fate has gone completely haywire. Will she be able to find a way out of this suburban nightmare? Or is she destined to stay and live the life she thought she wanted in this messed up fairytale…

Please note this review may contain spoilers.Careful What You Wish For is my first book from Michelle Escamilla and I must say I enjoyed it. I don’t think I’ve ever read an adult romance novel that focuses on making a wish and having it come true, all with the help of your very own fairy godmother.
Harley is a young woman working her way up the marketing ladder at her firm. She’s also got a major crush on the newest board member, Ethan Prince, who notices her attraction. After asking her out to a corporate dinner, he then barely acknowledges her after she spots him in the lift with another woman. In a hurry to meet up with friends for drinks, she hops in the first cab she sees and has an interesting conversation with the driver, mentioning that she had hopes for Ethan and could imagine a future with him.
Meeting up with her friends, they’re served by Matt, the waiter with the piercing blue eyes. Harley feels some sparks and at the end of the night, he puts her in a cab and gives her his number.
But when she awakes the next morning, she finds her entire life has changed. She is now a stay-at-home mum with two daughters, living in a very nice house, driving a minivan and married to her prince, Ethan Prince. People from her old life now mesh with her new life, including Matt. “Confused” is not a strong enough word to describe how she’s feeling. As fantasy turns to reality, she needs to decide what’s really important in life and learn to see the true prince through all the frogs.
Be warned, there is only one sex scene in the entire book that’s both quick and unsatisfying. But to be honest, the story didn’t need sex and I don’t think the story was lacking because of it.
There are also some problems with the writing. Either they’re editing errors or it’s a glitch in the digital file, but either way, they need to be fixed. Words are stuck together and there are spaces after the apostrophes. I noticed this seemed to happen less frequently towards the end of the book. There’s also a discrepancy regarding Leila’s age. That being said, these errors didn’t bother me too much to warrant a reduction in rating. Wow, I must be in a good mood today.
Overall I found this a very light, quick and romantic read. I can see on Goodreads there may be another book in this series coming out. Would I continue with the series? Yeah, I think I would.

Careful What You Wish For edition by Michelle Escamilla Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I read this book straight through, laughing my a$$ off and getting caught up in Harley's drama! It's a modern-day Cinderella story about a girl who makes a wish...she wants to find her Prince Charming. But who will it be? -- her rich CEO dream guy or the down-to-earth guy who likes her back? Well, Harley's about to find out! I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this is a must read for every girl. It's cleverly written, perfectly paced, and the characters so well-drawn. I loved them all!!!! It's humorous, romantic, and engrossing! Great read! Can't wait to read the next book in the series now!
This book is too cute and very fun...but a little scary...! =)
Harley makes an off-handed comment to a cab driver about a future with her dreamy boss. Little did she know that her cabbie was her kooky fairy godmother. After a night on the town with her friends and a few too many martinis she wakes up in a strange place with little ones calling her mommy - in her 'future life' that she thought would be so perfect. Everyone but her knows her 'normal life.' It's kinda like one of those dreams/nightmares about showing up to a school test but not knowing anything about it or being in a play that you don't know your lines to.
Once you've had your perfect happy ending & have ridden off into the sunset with Prince Charming, what happens next? This is the possible reality of the 'after' in the happily ever after and it might not be all it's cracked up to be. As she's learning more about the years she's skipped to get here she's realizing all was not so rosy and perfect. The big question - if she can even back to her regular life - does she want to? There's a lot of pluses and minuses in her new life and she has to decide if this is what was meant to be for her or can she go back and live her true destiny.
This is like a female version of the movie Mr. Destiny with James Belushi & Michael Caine - if you haven't seen it you really must see it - especially if you liked this book! It's a great movie!
It makes you think "some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."
Loved the book.
This is the story of Harley, a hard working Marketing person, who unknowingly wishes to spend the rest of her life with her crush (and Boss) Ethan Prince.
On night, she is out drinking with her friends and flirts with the waiter, Matt. After drinking a lot, Matt calls a cab for her and she goes home and sleep, thinking about Ethan and how she wishes to be with him. And just like that, this wish comes true... She is now Mrs. Harley Ethan Prince and have 2 amazing and beautiful daughters and is a Stay-at-Home mom. With the struggles to understand everything that just happened, she finds herself adjusting in this new life. She also finds out that Ethan is a complete opposite of the Prince she thought he was. This new life also has Matt, who is her younger daughter's teacher and she finds herself attracted to him.
Oh yes, did I mention, there is a Fairy Godmother too? No? Well, there is. That's how Harley's wish comes true. And now, both of them are trying to reverse the wish and trying to get Harley back in her old life.
But she doesn't want to get back as she has fallen in love with her 2 daughters and realize, that more than a Prince, she needs Kids...
This is a very sweet, romantic book. At the end, it all about making your own path and life rather than wishing for one...
Good book to lift you up on a bad day!
